City At Peace In The Arts is a unique, non-profit, multi-cultural theater company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We partner with local schools to produce professional quality musical theater serving students and community members with limited access to quality stage and production training.
CAPITA, was founded in 1990, by the late Brother Booker Ashe. While keeping a strong multicultural emphasis, CAPITA has dedicated itself to bringing together people of diverse ages, races and backgrounds through outstanding theater productions.
By including performers of all ages, entire families are able to participate in CAPITA productions. By bringing together people from all walks of life we foster a sense of unity among all racial, economic, and religious lines.
Drawing from all areas of Milwaukee and the surrounding suburbs, CAPITA works to foster multicultural awareness and racial harmony through the wonderful medium of community theater. This entails stage and production training, acting, singing and dancing teaching and directing and producing opportunities.
From previous productions such as,
"West Side Story," "Fiddler On The Roof," and "The Wiz," came our celebrated original Motown and 60's musical revue "Struttin' Uptown," and the wildly acclaimed "We Are The Drum"-an original musical production of the story of African/African-American history from past to present. We have also done theater classics like, "Jesus Christ Superstar."
CAPITA is now entering its 21st year. We have come a long way by holding true to the core ingredients of good theater-keeping it in the community!
